biography
Hello! I am Katy Andrew the ceramicist behind The Glazer’s Arms Pottery.
After completing my degree in ceramics at Camberwell College many years ago, I did something completely different- working in retail buying then ecommerce marketing and product development while bringing up my three boys. But the mud called me back! And now I can’t live a day without it and starting this small business is my hope to make this dream a reality.
I hand-build all my work, mainly using pinching techniques. I never fail to fall in love every time a lump of clay comes to life with the touch of fingers and thumbs.
The name of my business felt pre-fated. We live in a converted rural pub previously known as the Glaziers Arms, combining this with my utter love of reactive glazes and playing with glaze amalgamations and enjoying the interplaying of the chemistry meant the name The Glazer’s Arms felt serendipitous.
Most of my work is functional and I love the thought of it out in the world being used, bringing beauty and joy to people’s everyday experiences.
